Helicopter service begins with lesser fare

Finally the Uttarakhand government has allotted to nine private companies to start helicopter shuttle services for Kedarnath from three locations of Guptkashi, Fata and Sirsi on Monday.

Uttarakahnd Civil Aviaition Development Authority (UCADA) has fixed fares which are lesser than the last year. In 2017, the helicotper fare between Guptkashi and Kedarnath was Rs 7,500 per person but this year its fare would be mere Rs 7,300. In 2017 the fare from Fata was fixed at Rs 7,000 which now is Rs 6,700. From Sirsi, the fare earlier was Rs 6,500. Now it has been fixed at Rs 6,300 per person. Last year 14 helicopter companies were short listed for operation but this year only nine were qualified.

Uttarakhand Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Civil Aviation, Om Prakash said that at least 70 percent of the bookings would be made online and boarding passes would be issued only after the passengers submit a copy of their Aadhar cards.

The nine chopper companies have been granted permission for operation i.e. Aryan Aviation, Aero Air and Transbharat Aviation from Guptkashi, Pawan hans, UT Air India and Pinnacle Air from Fata and Himalayan Heli, Heritage Aiviation and Global Aviaition from Sirsi.
