Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat signed a five-point letter of Intent with the I Made Mangku Pastika, Governor of Bali, Indonesia at his official residence at Dehradun on Monday. Bali and Uttarakhand will support each other in the fields of tourism, culture, E-governance, human resource, capacity building, environment and health.
CM Rawat said that with the cooperation in field of tourism, culture, environment and health, the two states will come further closer. Bali was also an important tourist destination and following this agreement, the flow of tourists will increase further resulting in increase in number of tourists in both Indonesia and India. He expressed hope that more Indonesian tourists will visit Uttarakhand.
Pastika said that Bali was majority Hindu state with 90 percent of resident belonging to Hindu community and more than five thousand people from Bali visit Hardwar and Rishikesh every year. Bali is an important tourist destination and 17 thousand foreign tourists visiting it every day.
A large number of people in Bali are following ‘Mahabharata’ and ‘Ramayana’ epic and the Vedic rituals and traditions are still prevalent in the state. The Governor said that he was fond of Uttarakhand and had visited the state in 2007 and 2014. He invited the Chief Minister to Bali. Uttarakhand Urban Development Minister Madan Kaushik, Health advisor to Chief Minister Navin Baluni, Secretary Tourism Dilip Javalkar, Additional Secretary Jyoti Khairwal, Director, Culture Beena Bhatt and the officials from Bali were present on the occasion.
