Governor plants Tulip bulb at Rajbhawan

The Uttarakhand Governor Dr KK Paul today planted Tulip bulbs at Raj Bhawan’s garden.

Speaking on the occasion, the Governor said that tulips were among the most attractive and expensive flowers in the world. These flowers thrive in cold climate and mountain areas. There is a great demand for tulips in the international market.

The commercial cultivation of tulips in Uttarakhand could be very beneficial for the state. Since 2015 the tulip being grown at Raj Bhawan gardens since 2015 as an experiment in order to explore the possibilities and potential of commercial cultivation of this flower in Uttarakhand.

Raj Bhawan’s Horticulture Officer Deepak Purohit said that 100 tulip bulbs were planted in 2015 in Raj Bhawan and 200 bulbs in 2016. Both years showed good results .This year, 500 bulbs of three varieties of tulips have been planted according to the Governor’s directions.

It is hoped that in 45-50 days, these bulbs will turn as flower and it will be an added attraction during upcoming springfest, which is being organised every year at Rajbhawan

Other dignitaries including Secretary to the Governor Ravi Nath Raman, chief horticulture officer Sanjay Srivastav and other were present there.
