Teachers associated with Garhwal University to observe ‘save education’ day

Over 500 professors associated with the Garhwal University Teachers’ Association (GRUTA) from colleges across the state and also major colleges in the state capital like SGRR PG college, DAV PG college, DBS and MKP will sit on an agitation wearing black badges to observe November 30 as the ‘Save Higher Education of India Day’ on Thursday.

Teachers will also launch a signature campaign in support of their demands and grievances, which include anomalies in the notification of 7th UGC pay scale, which will then be sent to MHRD, besides other demands. President, GRUTA, V P Singh, said, “The protest has been called on behest of the All India Federation of University and College Teachers’ Organisations (AIFUCTO) considering the apathetic attitude of the Central government towards the teachers. Similar protests will be held across India on Thursday.”
