Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has reiterated that ensuring justice for Ankita Bhandari, the daughter of Uttarakhand, is the top most priority of the Uttarakhand government. This matter matter was handled with complete seriousness, sensitivity, and transparency.
Speaking at a press conference at the Media Centre in the Secretariat on Tuesday, the CM addressed questions related to the Ankita Bhandari case. He said that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was constituted under the leadership of a woman officer, P. Renuka Devi, to ensure a fair, impartial, and thorough investigation into the heinous crime. The SIT examined every aspect of the case in detail.

CM Dhami stated that due to the government’s strong and effective representation in court, all three accused have been awarded life imprisonment. He added that not only the trial court, but also the Hon’ble High Court and the Supreme Court have expressed satisfaction with the investigation conducted by the SIT, reflecting its credibility and strength.
Referring to attempts to create controversy based on an alleged audio clip, the Chief Minister said that unnecessary efforts are being made to disturb the atmosphere in the state, even though the judicial process has been completed with full seriousness and the guilty have received stringent punishment.
Replying on the query for a CBI inquiry, CM Dhami clarified that while the sentiments of the entire state stand firmly with Ankita, her parents are the most deeply affected by the tragedy. He said he would personally speak with Ankita’s parents and that any further decision would be taken only after considering their emotions, pain, and expectations.
The Chief Minister reaffirmed that the Uttarakhand government remains fully committed to ensuring the safety, dignity, and justice for daughters of the state.
