The water level of the Alaknanda river has started receding at Mini Goa Beach, about one kilometer ahead of Kaliyasoud on the Pauri border, allowing traffic movement to resume. Police are regulating vehicles cautiously, letting them pass in a controlled manner. This has been told by Pauri DM Swati Bhadauria by issuing a press note on Friday.

Earlier, due to heavy rains in Chamoli and Rudraprayag districts, the river water had risen sharply, submerging the Badrinath National Highway at Mini Goa Beach. For safety reasons, traffic was halted by police until the situation improved.

District Magistrate of Pauri, Swati S. Bhadauria, said the sudden overnight rains in the upper districts led to a dangerous rise in the Alaknanda’s water level, crossing the warning mark. Authorities immediately sounded alerts and closed shops near Dhari Devi as a precautionary measure.

In addition, six schools located close to the river were closed to ensure children’s safety. The District Magistrate has appealed to the public to remain cautious despite the gradual decrease in the water level.
