Following on the Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s announcement that disaster-affected families in Pauri district would receive compensation on the lines of Dharali and Tharali, the relief amount was distributed today. Families who lost homes or loved ones thanked the Chief Minister, calling the assistance a lifeline in this difficult time.
On August 26, CM Dhami had announced financial assistance of ₹5 lakh each for the families of the deceased and for owners of residential buildings completely damaged in the disaster. A portion of the compensation is being provided from the SDRF fund, while the remaining is drawn from the Chief Minister’s Discretionary Fund.
Acting swiftly on the Chief Minister’s directions, District Magistrate Swati S. Bhadauria ensured immediate distribution of relief. On Saturday, a Revenue Department team led by Tehsildar Pauri Diwan Singh Rana visited the affected villages and handed over relief cheques.
According to officials, a total of 22 houses were completely destroyed in Sainji, Buransi, Raidul, Phaldwadi, Kyard, Kalun and Mankoli villages of Tehsil Pauri, while six lives were lost. The Chief Minister had personally visited the disaster-hit areas on August 7 and instructed officials to ensure quick and transparent relief distribution.
Residents said the financial assistance will help them rebuild their lives. They thanked Chief Minister Dhami for his sensitivity and timely action, noting that the government has stood firmly by their side during the crisis.
