Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday released the 20th installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme from Varanasi, digitally transferring over ₹20,500 crore to the bank accounts of more than 9.71 crore farmers across the country. Out of this, ₹184.25 crore was transferred to 8,28,787 beneficiary farmer families in Uttarakhand.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in the event virtually from Garhi Cantt, Dehradun, and extended his gratitude to the Prime Minister for continuously working towards the upliftment of India’s farmers.
CM Dhami highlighted that since the launch of the PM-KISAN scheme, over ₹3,300 crore has been disbursed to Uttarakhand’s farmers. He praised Prime Minister Modi’s leadership in transforming the agricultural sector post-2014 through various landmark initiatives aimed at doubling farmers’ income and ensuring their welfare.
He emphasized key central schemes such as the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, which provides financial protection against crop losses due to natural calamities, and the Soil Health Card scheme, which aids in improving land fertility and crop quality through scientific analysis.
The Chief Minister also shed light on several state-level initiatives being undertaken in alignment with the PM’s vision. These include interest-free loans up to ₹3 lakh, up to 80% subsidy for farm machinery under the Farm Machinery Bank Scheme, free canal irrigation, and a ₹200 crore allocation for polyhouse construction. Additionally, a bonus of ₹20 per quintal on wheat and a ₹20 per quintal hike in sugarcane prices have been implemented.
CM Dhami reaffirmed his government’s commitment to the prosperity of farmers and said that under PM Modi’s guidance, Uttarakhand is determined to achieve agricultural self-reliance and rural economic growth.
