In the aftermath of the devastating cloudburst in Dharali village of the Harshil area in Uttarkashi district, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Wednesday reached ground zero despite adverse weather conditions and ongoing challenges. He met the affected families, took stock of the relief and rescue efforts, and assured the victims of all possible support from the state government.
CM Dhami became the first person to reach the site on Wednesday, arriving in the very first helicopter sortie of the day. A total of seven helicopter sorties were conducted in Dharali to expedite relief operations. Essential food supplies and relief materials were airlifted to the region using two helicopters to ensure timely assistance to the affected.
During his visit, the Chief Minister interacted with both the disaster-affected families and the personnel engaged in relief and rescue work. He directed officials to ensure that relief materials are delivered without delay and instructed all key departments to remain on high alert. “Our top priority is to restore normalcy and provide immediate assistance to every affected individual,” CM Dhami said.
Relief and rescue operations are being carried out on a war footing, with monitoring being done at the State Emergency Operations Center under the supervision of senior government officials.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also spoke with Chief Minister Dhami on Wednesday morning to get an update on the situation. The Prime Minister inquired about the current status of the disaster and the ongoing relief efforts. CM Dhami informed him that all concerned agencies are working in full coordination, despite some challenges due to continuous heavy rainfall in the region.
PM Modi expressed deep concern and assured the Chief Minister of full support from the central government, reiterating that every possible assistance would be extended to help the affected people of Dharali.
The state administration continues to work relentlessly to ensure swift relief and rehabilitation in the disaster-struck region.
