In an inspiring display of courage, determination, and endurance, three National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets from Uttarakhand have successfully scaled Mount Everest, the world’s highest peak. This extraordinary achievement was accomplished on 18 May 2025, marking a historic milestone not just for the cadets, but for the entire state.

The successful climbers – Cadet Virendra Samant (29 Uttarakhand Vahini, Dehradun), Cadet Mukul Bangwal (4 Uttarakhand Vahini, Pauri), and Cadet Sachin Kumar (3 Uttarakhand Vahini, Uttarkashi) – braved extreme weather and grueling conditions to reach the summit, showcasing the true spirit of adventure, discipline, and perseverance.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami congratulated the trio, stating, “This is not only a proud moment for Uttarakhand but also for the entire country. Their courage and commitment will inspire lakhs of young Indians.” He praised their achievement as a shining example of the NCC’s core values of teamwork, discipline, and striving for excellence.

Speaking after the climb, Cadet Virendra Samant said, “This is not just our success, it’s the victory of every dreamer who believes in hard work and teamwork. We never gave up.”

Major General Rohan Anand, Additional Director General, Uttarakhand NCC, lauded the cadets’ resilience, stating that their success exemplifies the motto that “leadership is born in difficult times.” He noted that the expedition aimed to promote adventure sports, leadership, and self-reliance among Indian youth.

The mission was supported by experienced mountaineers, NCC instructors, the Indian Army, Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board, and local organizations, whose contributions played a vital role in the expedition’s success.

The cadets’ journey stands as a powerful symbol of youth potential and India’s growing adventure spirit.
