Pakistan has violated ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan within few hours. As per agreement both side (India and Pakistan) had agreed to cease all military actions across land, air, and sea on May 10. The agreement happened earlier in the day through high-level talks between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of both nations. This was announced by foreign secretary Vikarm Misri.
At a special press briefing, Misri condemned the alleged violations, calling them a “serious breach” of the mutual understanding. “Despite the commitment reached today between the DGMOs to stop all firing and military actions, Pakistan has initiated unprovoked firing and attempted border intrusions. India takes very serious note of these violations,” Misri stated.
He emphasized that the Indian Army has been instructed to respond firmly and is “effectively retaliating” to defend national sovereignty. The nature and extent of the intrusions were not immediately disclosed, but defense sources confirmed that incidents were reported in at least two sectors along the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir.
The fresh tensions cast a shadow over what had been hailed as a major diplomatic breakthrough. Earlier in the day, both countries had agreed to halt hostilities across all domains — land, sea, and air — in a bid to reset strained bilateral ties and prevent further military escalation.
The Pakistani government has yet to issue an official response to the allegations. Analysts say the quick collapse of the ceasefire agreement underscores the deep mistrust and fragile nature of India-Pakistan relations, which have been marred by decades of conflict and border skirmishes. With both sides now on high alert, the future of the peace initiative remains uncertain.
