In a bid to boost tourism and strengthen the economy, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed officials to promote destination weddings in Uttarakhand. Chairing a high-level meeting at the Secretariat, the Chief Minister emphasized improving infrastructure and connectivity to attract more wedding tourism to the state.
The Chief Minister specifically instructed officials to improve road connectivity in Triyugi Narayan, a popular wedding destination associated with the marriage of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, and also ordered the construction of a helipad there to facilitate easy access for tourists.
He also directed the Tourism Department to identify new locations across the state that could be developed as ideal wedding destinations. The CM said, “Uttarakhand’s natural beauty, scenic landscapes, and spiritual aura make it a perfect destination for weddings. Promoting destination weddings will significantly boost tourism and the local economy.”
Highlighting the support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Chief Minister said that the Prime Minister had also encouraged the people of the country to prioritize Uttarakhand for destination weddings. CM Dhami emphasized that the natural beauty of the state, combined with modern amenities, could make Uttarakhand a prominent choice for wedding events.
The Chief Minister directed the Tourism Department to prepare a comprehensive guideline under the “Destination Uttarakhand” campaign to facilitate hassle-free wedding arrangements. He also called for improved infrastructure, including road connectivity, better hospitality services, and easy transportation to major wedding venues.
The meeting was attended by Cabinet Minister Satpal Maharaj, Vice Chairman of Infrastructure Monitoring Council Shri Vishwas Dabur, Additional Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan, Principal Secretary R.K. Sudhanshu, Secretary Shailesh Bagoli, ADG of Police V. Murugeshan, Garhwal Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey, IG Garhwal Rajiv Swaroop, and other senior officials.
