In a bid to filip the Union Government’s ambitious Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS), Uttarakhand Power Corporation Ltd. (UPCL) has installed smart meter at Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami’s residence in Khatima. As we know that UPCL is actively installing smart meters across the state. Under this initiative, 15.87 lakh consumers in Uttarakhand, along with transformers and feeders, are set to receive smart meters.
On March 15, 2025, UPCL installed a smart meter at the private residence of Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami in Tarai Nagla, Khatima. During the installation, UPCL Superintending Engineer Shekhar Tripathi briefed the Chief Minister on the smart meter’s features, demonstrating how real-time electricity data can be accessed via mobile applications.
Praising the technology, CM Dhami stated that smart meters would significantly benefit consumers by ensuring accurate billing and reducing power wastage. He urged citizens to embrace the new system and directed officials to increase awareness campaigns about its advantages.
This initiative aims to modernize the state’s power distribution system and encourage widespread adoption of smart meters. District Magistrate Nitin Bhadoria and the UPCL team were also present during the installation, marking a step towards a more efficient and transparent power sector in Uttarakhand.
