Several people become sick after consuming Kuttu Ka Atta in Dehradun

Around 100 people have fallen sick after consuming contaminated buckwheat flour (kuttu ka atta) in Dehradun. The affected individuals are currently receiving treatment at Coronation and Doon Medical College & hospitals. As we know that people (devotees) consume kuttu ka atta due to ongoing Chaitra Navratra.

Following immediate action by the police, investigations traced the suspected contaminated flour to Lakshmi Traders in the Vikasnagar area and Shivpal Chauhan, a resident of Vikasnagar who also operates a warehouse in Shimla Bypass Patel Nagar. The flour was distributed across multiple retail stores in Dehradun, including:

➡️ Aggarwal Trade Store, Deepnagar ➡️ Lakshmi Store, Banjara Wala ➡️ Sanjay Store, Karanpur ➡️ Sharma Store, Raipur (near police station) ➡️ Kedarpuram MDDA Colony, Agarwal Traders ➡️ Kohli Traders, Darshani Gate

Further tracing revealed that the distribution network extended to various warehouses and shops in the Vikasnagar, Patel Nagar, and Kotwali areas.

In response, the police have swiftly seized the suspected contaminated buckwheat flour from the concerned stores and warehouses. Authorities have assured that action is ongoing to prevent further public health risks and to determine the source of contamination.

Public Advisory Issued by Doon Police

The Doon Police have issued an urgent appeal to the public, urging those who have purchased buckwheat flour from the listed locations to refrain from consuming it. Consumers are advised to verify the authenticity of the product before use to avoid health complications.

Authorities continue their investigation into the matter, and further action will be taken against those responsible for the distribution of adulterated food products.
