Mana Avalanche : 54 Workers Rescued, 8 Dead

Eight workers dead out of 54 workers rescued from the Mana Avalanche site. Two seriously injured workers have been airlifted to AIIMS Rishikesh for advance treatment. Currently 44 workers with minor injuries are being treated at the Military Hospital in Jyotirmath.  This has been told by Chamoli District Magistrate Sandeep Tiwari on Sunday.

The Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has expressed his condolences, praying for peace for the souls of the deceased and strength for their bereaved families during this difficult time. He acknowledged the invaluable guidance of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and the full support of the Central Government in the relief and rescue operation. As a result, the operation was carried out swiftly and effectively.

DM Tiwari  said that seven army helicopters and one private helicopter were used to transport the injured and deceased to Jyotirmath. The extensive rescue operations were carried out by a joint team comprising the Army, Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF).

The two critically injured workers have been identified as Ashok, son of Jeevan Ram from Berinag, Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand, and Pawan, son of Mahendra Singh from Ishapur, Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh. They were taken to AIIMS Rishikesh by air ambulance for better medical treatment.

The deceased workers include Mohinder Pal, son of Deshraj from Noorpur Kangra, and Harmesh Chand, son of Gyan Chand from Himachal Pradesh. Other victims were Jitendra Singh, son of Kulwant Singh from Rampur, Una, Uttar Pradesh; Alok Yadav, son of Shivpal Singh from Kanpur; Manjeet Yadav, son of Shambhu Yadav from Mau; Ashok Paswan, son of Rampal from Fatepur; Anil Kumar, son of Ishwari Dutt from Rudrapur, Udham Singh Nagar; and Arvind, son of Devendra Kumar from Gokul Dham, New Colony, Clement Town, Dehradun.

As per the directives of the Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the bodies of the deceased will be handed over to their families with due respect. Meanwhile their postmortem conducted at the Community Health Center in Jyotirmath.

The District Magistrate met the rescued workers at the hospital, where they expressed their gratitude to the government, district administration, and rescue teams for their timely intervention and efforts.

During the visit, Superintendent of Police Sarvesh Panwar, SDM Chandrashekhar Vashisht, and ACMO MS Khati were also present. Authorities assured that all necessary assistance and compensation would be provided to the victims and their families in the aftermath of the disaster.
