Additional Chief Secretary IAS officer Anand Bardhan has been promoted as the new Chief Secretary of Uttarakhand. The state government has issued an official order confirming his appointment three days before the retirement of the incumbent Chief Secretary, Radha Raturi.
Bardhan, known for his administrative acumen and reputation as a hard taskmaster, will assume office on April 1, 2025. His appointment comes in advance due to the closure of the secretariat on Saturday and Sunday, followed by a gazetted holiday on March 31 for Eid Ul Fitr. This led the government to issue the order on March 28 to ensure a smooth transition.
A 1992-batch IAS officer, Anand Bardhan has held several key positions in the Uttarakhand government and has been instrumental in implementing crucial policies. His tenure has been marked by efficient governance and strict administrative discipline. His ability to handle complex situations and drive development initiatives has earned him recognition among peers and subordinates alike.
Outgoing Chief Secretary Radha Raturi, who has served in the position with dedication, will officially retire on March 31. Under her leadership, several policy initiatives were undertaken to strengthen governance in the state.
