Actress and producer Aarushi Nishank, daughter of former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, has allegedly become victim to a ₹4 crore fraud. A case has been registered at Dehradun’s Kotwali police station against Mumbai-based film producers Mansi Varun Bagla and Varun Pramod Kumar Bagla on charges of cheating and breach of trust.
The accused allegedly lured Aarushi into investing in their film by promising her a lead role and substantial profits. According to reports, the producers offered Aarushi a lead role in the film on the condition that she invest ₹5 crore, ensuring her a 20% share of the film’s earnings. They also guaranteed the return of her investment with 15% interest if she was dissatisfied with the script.
An MoU was signed between Himshri Films and Mini Films on October 9, 2024, following which Aarushi transferred ₹2 crore as the first installment on October 10, 2024. Subsequent payments of ₹1 crore, ₹25 lakh, and ₹75 lakh were made on November 19, October 27, and October 30, respectively. However, the promises remained unfulfilled, and Aarushi alleged fraud.
Ironically Uttarakhand Chief Minister had attended the inauguration ceremony on the film set, lending credibility to the project. The police are investigating the matter, and Aarushi’s complaint highlights how trust and promises in the film industry can sometimes lead to financial exploitation. Further action against the accused is awaited.
