The year 2024 marked a transformative era for Uttarakhand under Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s leadership. The state witnessed a series of landmark decisions that shaped its socio-economic and cultural landscape, drawing attention nationwide.
One of the most significant milestones was the approval of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) Bill, reinforcing Uttarakhand’s commitment to equality. Alongside, the introduction of a stringent anti-riot law and 10% horizontal reservation for state movement activists further solidified the government’s focus on justice and inclusivity.
Economic development saw a boost with ₹81,000 crore worth of investments materializing from the 2023 Global Investors Summit, paving the way for employment opportunities. This was complemented by record-breaking government recruitments, with over 19,000 youth securing jobs in three years.
Uttarakhand also climbed to the top of NITI Aayog’s SDG Index, reflecting progress in areas like education, health, and environmental sustainability. Additionally, the state launched the CM Salt Nutrition Scheme, benefiting 14 lakh ration cardholders, and increased old-age pensions to ₹1,500 per individual.
Tourism and cultural heritage received special attention with the initiation of winter Char Dham pilgrimages and the renaming of key areas like Sitawani Conservation Reserve. The state’s first Pravasi Uttarakhandi Conference showcased its global connectivity, while the Lakhpati Didi Scheme empowered over 1 lakh women through self-help groups.
Infrastructure development also made strides, with underground power lines in Dehradun and the launch of the Lalkuan-Bandra Superfast Train. Notably, Pithoragarh’s Naini Saini Airport began commercial flights, further improving connectivity.
From advancing anti-corruption measures to supporting Ayurveda and solar energy, the Dhami government’s initiatives have positioned Uttarakhand as a state focused on growth, inclusivity, and sustainability. With these achievements, 2024 stands as a historic year in Uttarakhand’s journey toward progress.
