In a shocking revelation, an MBBS(NEET) examination conducted on May 5, 2024, at Shri Guru Ram Rai Public School in Raja road, Dehradun, has been marred by an elaborate impersonation scam. The examination controller at the school, Arun Saxena, discovered discrepancies during the biometric attendance process, leading to the unraveling of the deceit.
A case was promptly registered at the Kotwali police station upon receiving the information from Arun Saxena. Further investigation revealed the involvement of Dev Prakash, a second-year MBBS student at Government Medical College, Pali, Rajasthan.
According to statements provided by Dev Prakash during interrogation, he confessed to his involvement in the impersonation scheme. Dev Prakash disclosed that he had met Mayank Gautam, a resident of Rudrapur, Uttarakhand, during a visit to Rishikesh, Haridwar, and Kedarnath in September 2022. Expressing his desire to pass the NEET exam despite academic shortcomings, Dev Prakash succumbed to Mayank Gautam’s enticing offer of ₹2 lakh in exchange for impersonating him in the examination.
The intricate plan involved Mayank Gautam inserting Dev Prakash’s passport-sized photograph into the examination form, with the examination center designated at Guru Ram Rai Public School, Raja Road. However, the execution hit a snag when Dev Prakash’s biometric data failed to match that of Mayank Gautam’s Aadhar card, leading to his apprehension.
The investigation sheds light on the alarming depths of malpractice in academic examinations and underscores the need for stringent measures to uphold the integrity of the examination process. The authorities have vowed to prosecute all individuals involved in the scam to the fullest extent of the law.
As the case unfolds, it serves as a stark reminder of the importance of maintaining the sanctity of educational assessments and the imperative of upholding ethical standards in academia.
