Cold wave continues in Uttarakhand

After two days of bright sunshine, the weather in Dehradun once again looked to turn for the worse today. The capital had been cloudy since morning. However, later the sun blossomed.

On Saturday, bright sunshine was prevailing in most areas till noon. Later in the afternoon, the weather took a sudden turn and the sky was mildly clouded, which increased the cold. Due to snowfall in high altitude, cold wave in lower areas increased people’s problems.

At the same time, many villages of the mountain are covered with snow, the outbreak of cold continues. Apart from this, there was sunshine in Badrinath, Kedarnath and Gangotri-Yamunotri, Hemkund Sahib etc. areas. Three motorways, including the Kund-Ukhimath-Chopta-Gopeshwar highway, are closed. Kedarnath has cut off contact with the district headquarters.

Even though it has been sunny for two days, the cold wave continues in full swing in Haridwar. The early morning cold is making it more troublesome. In such a situation, it is becoming difficult for people to leave their homes. Doctors advise that even if it is sunny during the day, still come out of the house wearing warm clothes.

Yamunotri valley is cloudy. Yamunotri highway, which was closed for several days due to snowfall, is still closed. Efforts are on to open the route. Kumaon areas are experiencing freezing cold due to cold wave and melting after rain, snowfall. This cold has broken a record of seven years. Since Friday morning, there was sunshine in Haldwani. Despite this, the cold wave and the melting snow had kept people indoors.

The maximum temperature was 12.5 and the minimum was 6.2 degrees Celsius. The humidity was 88 percent and winds moved from the northwest direction at a speed of 4.2 kilometers per hour. Mukteshwar had a maximum temperature of 11.0 and a minimum temperature of -1.5 degree Celsius. The maximum temperature was one degree below normal and the minimum temperature was three degrees Celsius below normal.
