CM condolences on swami sanand’s death

Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat has expressed deep condolences at the demise of noted environmentalist Prof. GD Aggarwal.

In his condolence message, Chief Minister  mentioned that he was deeply grieved following the death of Prof. GD Aggarwal who has been agitating on various issues related with Ganga river.  His main demand was for a separate act for Ganga and stoppage of all hydro-electric projects in state. To study his demand and to prepare such a project needs time. His government and the central government were in constant touch with him and holding talks with him. Union Drinking Water Minister Uma Bharati also had a meeting with him. Union Water Resources Minister Nitin Gadkari also had a telephonic conversation with Prof. Aggarwal.

Chief Minister said that the state government has shown great sensitivity on this issue. The government representatives were in constant contact with him. Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, Haridwar, Lok Sabha member had gone to meet him. “ We tried our best to save his life but despite all efforts, he refused to break his fast. Soon after he refused to take water on October 9, he was immediately admitted to AIIMS, Rishikesh. The doctors at AIIMS also tried their best to save his life,” he said.
