Uttarakhand state chapter of PHDCCI Chairman said that 2nd PHDCCI States Conclave, which was held on August 18-19 at ITC Savoy Mussorriee, conclude on August 19. In which 16 states chairman and Co Chairman participated. There were some other dignitaries including Jitendra Tyagi the MD of the Metro Rail project of Uttarakhand and HP.Kumar the Ex-CMD of NSIC who is advisor MSME at PHD Chamber and Kishore Kumar Kaya the Chairman of Welcome ITC Savoy Mussoriee were there. The President Anil Khaitan and Vice President DK.Agarwal lead the conclave along with Senior management colleagues, Secretary General Designate Mahesh Reddy and directors. Dr Ranjeet Mehta the principal Director with PHD Chamber stated that the state conclaves, of PHD Chamber which are focused on aligning the chamber’s national and international resources with states.
Khaitan, said that, PHD Chamber represents the interests of all local, national, regional, bilateral and transnational industry and as a national apex Chamber having its international office at Bahrain for 6 GCC countries has total focus on the development of small and medium businesses. Agarwal informed that chamber contributes significantly to socio-economic development and capacity building in several fields with an explicit focus on Industrial Development, Health, Education & Skill development, Housing, Infrastructure, Agriculture & Agri-business and Digital India, which are the seven key thrust areas of the Chamber.
Regional Director Anil Taneja told that by assigning the status of State Chapter to this office, management of the chamber has empowered the office to enhance its capacity to work through expert committees to be chaired by respective mgt. committee members of the state chapter. The executive body of the state chapter is represented by elect members from respective sectors which are of key focus for the state. Uttarakhand State chapter is constituted with 22 Executive members chaired by SP Kochhar along with Co Chairs Verendra Kalra for Garwal region and Rajeev Ghai for Kumaun. Further he told that there are as of now, five expert committees in the state chapter, which includes Tourism & entertainment, Infrastructure, Industry Development & MSME, Taxation/Corporate Affairs & Agri/Food Processing committee. There are four task forces operating under the chapter working in the areas of Start Ups, ICT, Education & Skill Development & CSR.
Kochhar expressed that, the state of Uttarakhand is strategically best positioned in the Himalayan region to benchmark a holistic economic development model unique for this ecologically sensitive zone. Kalra told that the 1st major program initiated by Uttarakhand State chapter under Hilly state Council is to promote adoption of SDGs based practices in the tourism sector in entire Himalayan region through its flagship event of Himalayan Tourism Samman (HITS) commissioned in collaboration with Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board to be commemorated on the world Tourism Day Sept 27. 2018 at Dheradun.
