Justice Rajiv Sharma appointed new Chief Justice of Uttarakhand High Court

After the President’s acceptance on Monday, the letter of his appointment of Rajinder Kashyap, joint secretary of the Law and Justice Ministry as Chief Justice of Nainital High Court reached Nainital. Justice Sharma has been appointed since the day of former Chief Justice K. Joseph Joseph left office. Justice Rajiv Sharma was appointed on September 26, 2016 in the Uttarakhand High Court. He had been transferred from Himachal Pradesh.

Born on October 8, 1958 in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, Justice Sharma received LLB degree from Himachal Pradesh University. In 1982, he was nominated as an advocate. In 2002 he became a senior advocate. He practiced in the Himachal Pradesh High Court as an advocate with expertise in matters of constitutional law, administrative law, service related matters and environmental law.

He became an additional judge on April 3, 2007 in Himachal Pradesh High Court and on 31 March 2013, he became a permanent judge.
