Development Dynamics of a Himalayan State

Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat released the book “Development Dynamics of a Himalayan State” (Volume 1 & 2), jointly authored by Prof. RM Nautiyal and Dr. Rajlakshmi Datta at the CM residence meeting hall on Monday. Describing this book as critical and multi-dimensional, Chief Minister said that the purpose of books written with long-term thinking should be helpful in understanding the practical problems. The purpose and efforts of books should be long-term and guiding force.

Uttarakhand has its own distinctive identity in Himalayan states. There is a need for research in promoting the products according to the geographical conditions and climate of the state. Being a new state, there is scope for having new dimensions of development here. He also said that the research done in any field should be practical. The research done in the field of agriculture and horticulture can be helpful in connecting the youth of the state with these fields. If our products will be qualitative, then we can leave Himachal Pradesh behind. With the active participation of the youth in this area, we can also succeed in changing the picture of 10 per cent of the villages.

On this occasion, Prof. Nautiyal presented a brief outline of the book and stated that this book will prove to be milestone in the development and policy planning of Uttarakhand. On the occasion of book release, Prof. SP. Singh (former Vice Chancellor HNB Central University, Srinagar) said that this book is a message to the state that what should be the planning for the development of the state. He was of the view that there is immense scope for development in Uttarakhand and we all have to achieve the targeted through joint effort.

Vice Chancellor of Doon University Prof. C.S. Nautiyal said that today the state needs a new development model, so that the schemes can be completed on time and these schemes should be socially oriented. Details of the book were given by Dr. Rajlakshmi Datta through PPT. He said that this book is based on the discussion of the hill perspective of development, which covers the development journey of 17 years of the new state of Uttarakhand.
