Baby Rani Maurya sworn in as UK Gov

Newly appointed governor Baby Rani Maurya has been administered oath as governor of Uttarakhand  by Uttarakhand High court chief justice Justice Rajeev Sharma on Sunday.

After the oath taking,  the Governor  inspected the  guard of honour presented to her by the 21st Battalion of Madras Regiment of Indian Army.

The oath taking ceremony was conducted by chief secretary Utpal Kumar Singh. He read out the warrant issued by the President of India appointing Baby Rani Maurya as the Governor of Uttarakhand.

After taking oath, Governor said that her priority would be to work for the all –round development of the hill state. She said that it was a matter of pride for her that she had been given the opportunity to serve Uttarakhand as its Governor.

She said that there was a popular elected government in the state. It would be her effort to support the government while fulfilling her constitutional duties. Women empowerment, girls’ education and the cleanliness mission would be strengthened. Improvement in the standard of higher education and research will be encouraged.

She said that following the prime minister’s resolve to create a new India, we will have to build a new Uttarakhand which can contribute to making the new India.

Chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat, senior officials and many other eminent persons were present on the occasion.

Cabinet minister Madan Kaushik, Garhwal Commissioner S.Bagoli and DIG Ajay Rautela earlier welcomed the Governor at Jollygrant Airport. When she reached the helipad, chief secretary Utpal Kumar Singh, DGP Anil Raturi and SSP Nivedita Kukreti welcomed her.
