NSC reviews status of Rangarajan Commission recommendation

Dr. Radha Binod Barman, Chairperson of the National Statistical Commission, Government of India, reviewed the statistics work conducted in the main departments of the State Government during the 101st meeting of the Commission at Chief Secretary Auditorium, Secretariat on Tuesday. Under the Animal Husbandry Department, the status of implementation of recommendations of the Rangarajan Commission was reviewed.

Discussions were held regarding animal census, animal and agricultural census integration and sample survey pertaining to animal products. Emphasis was laid on adopting innovative methods and best practices for statistics calculations in all departments. Updated information on the efforts made by the key departments for the strengthening of statistics, data gathering and status of the recognition process was given in the meeting.

Discussions were held regarding the publications and dissemination of statistical reports and officers of the concerned departments shared information about the efforts made to ensure the availability of data sets and data quality by industry, medical, forest, agriculture, animal husbandry, horticulture, education, village development, revenue and planning departments.

All members of the National Statistical Commission; Secretary Department of Statistics and Programme Implementation, Government of India; Chief Secretary, Uttarakhand, along with Principal Secretaries of Industry, Medical, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Horticulture, Education, Rural Development, Revenue and Planning Department and Department Heads attended the meeting.
