USERC conducts Cyber security hackathon in Dehradun

A three-day cyber security hackathon organized by the US embassy and the Uttarakhand Science Education & Research Centre (USERC) kicked off here on Wednesday.

The North India Cyber Security Hackathon is working towards developing solutions focused on security features for various applications that enable e-transactions and public services. Fourteen participating teams will showcase cyber fraud vulnerabilities and suggest possible solutions. The winning team will receive a seed funding of Rs 50,000 and the runners-up will receive Rs 30,000 to further develop their solution.

“The US and India have been building on a cyber-partnership and with the North India Cyber Security Hackathon, the US embassy hopes to empower youth here in the field of information security,” said Stewart E Davis, director of programmes, North India, US Embassy.

Durgesh Pant, director, USERC said, “The objective of the hackathon is to create awareness on the opportunities and challenges in the area of cyber security and build capacity among youth in North India by encouraging them to build innovative solutions for cyber security issues.”
