Hamirpur: A prominent BJP leader from Hamirpur, the home district of former Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal, yesterday joined the Congress.
Vinod Thakur joined the party at a public meeting here in the presence of Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh.
Thakur hit out at Dhumal for ignoring genuine party workers and only “favouring his sons and his relatives”. He alleged that BJP had become a private limited party in the hands of Dhumal.
He said that defeat of the BJP under Dhumal was imminent and Congress party would repeat its government once elections were held in state.
Singh welcomed Thakur into the party and said that he would prove to be an asset for the Congress in the district.
