DAINIK NATION BUREAU

With the Bharatiya Janata Party leadership keeping all in suspense on its chief minister pick for Uttarakhand, the stage is set for the swearing in of the new ministry on March 18 at Parade Ground in Dehradun to be attended by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Informing about the swearing in, the state additional director general of police (law and order) Ram Singh Meena said on Thursday that security is being beefed up in view of the PM coming to attend the programme being confirmed.

Sources say that PM is expected to arrive in Dehradun on Saturday afternoon and swearing in would happen at 3 pm at parade ground. However, beyond the conformation of the PM’s arrival, the state police are yet to receive the minute to minute details of the VVIP visit. It is expected that things would be made clear either by Thursday evening or latest by Friday morning.

After the PM’s arrival has been confirmed, the police are now engaged in putting into place adequate security at Parade Ground and other places, including the Jolly Grant Airport. Intelligence staffs have also been put on alert.  Aside from the Jolly Grant Airport, security of the Sahastradhara helipad is also being stepped up in view of the possibility of special aircrafts, carrying the VVIPs who are enjoying SPG, Z-Plus, Z, Y and X security, landing there. Security has been revved up too at and around the helipads at GTC. A bomb disposal squad, jammer and dog squad have been put into operation to make the security fool-proof. Meanwhile, the district officials are now busy erecting the rostrum at Parade Ground where the swearing in would be held.
