Except some minor incidents, the election in the state passed off peacefully on Wednesday. State police spokesperson and ADGP (law and order) Ram Singh Meena said soon after the polling was over that no report of untoward incident during polling had been reported from any booth covering all the 69 constituencies of the state that went to the polls. At a polling booth in the CNI boys inter college for the Rajpur Road assembly constituency, there was a verbal altercation regarding alleged anomaly in the polling. BJP caniddate Khajan Das and Congress candidate Rajkumar and their supporters were among those at the site when the instance occurred which was later reportedly resolved.
Police made adequate arrangements to ensure peaceful polling. On an average, at the polling stations, a constable along with home guard or PRD jawan was deployed while at the vulnerable booths, a CRPF jawan and a police constable were deployed and at the critical booths, one PAC jawan and one constable were deployed. Around 40, 000 central armed police forces, state police, PAC jawans, home guards, PRD jawans and watchmen were deputed at polling stations, Meena added.
