To compete with BJP’s campaign congress has also intensified their campaign and chief minister Harish Rawat reached Joshimath to canvass for the Congress candidate and sitting MLA from Badrinath constituency, Rajendra Singh Bhandari on Friday. Addressing a public gathering here, the chief minister accused the BJP of playing the “politics of misinformation”.
Referring to the long standing demand to declare OBC status to the area, the CM alleged that the BJP was playing the politics of misinformation on the issue, stressing that government order had been issued which could not be denied by anyone. Taking a dig at the PM Narendra Modi, the CM said that the Assembly election is a state election and in case Modi wants to be the CM of Uttarakhand, he should file his candidature from here.
Speaking on the occasion, the Congress candidate said that issuance of a government order results in enactment. He also spoke about the developmental works undertaken during his term and elicited the votes of the public.
Earlier, the helicopter carrying the chief minister had to hover above Joshimath for some time because the helipad was not found. The chief minister’s helicopter arrived an hour late than the scheduled time. It was supposed to land at Ravigram but the said landing site could not be found for quite some time as the helicopter continued to fly around before finally landing at the JP helipad. Before the CM’s address, the local Congress workers took out a rally in Joshimath town.
