Sounding sure that the party would form the next government in the state, post March 11 counting of votes, the state BJP president Ajay Bhatt said that the government they would form would review the parole given to some people lodged in different jails of the state. He alleged that the Congress-helmed state government had released dreaded criminals on parole to unleash them on the peace-loving people of the state ahead of the election. “The paroles would be withdrawn in case the things warrant so, given the antecedents of the criminals,” he said.
He further said that the state government had released the dreaded criminals ahead of the election with a sinister design. “Their objective was to throttle the voice of the people who dared raise voice against the Congress misrule. The election commission did nothing despite my party having lodged complaint before it,” he said. “We are not criticizing the election commission. But we want to say that the releases of the criminals on parole are subject to scrutiny,” Bhatt said.
Talking about the chief minister Harish Rawat clearing some files, post February 15 election, the state BJP chief said that he had cleared the liquor and mining related files. “We know that before the election, the state government had distributed more than 100 mining leases and liquor licenses. In Deoprayag in particular, they had given license for the setting up of a liquor bottling plant under the guise of clearing decks for a mineral water plant,” he added.
