UK receives fresh snowfall

On Friday Uttarakhand experienced snow fall and rain in patches.  The higher reaches received snowfall while plains reported rain. Fog also enveloped vast stretches of the plains. Mercury dipped again after the cold condition abated a bit before the wet spell started. However, the Met officials said that things would be dry in the plains of the state while it would continue to snow in the higher reaches of the state on Saturday.

 

Talking to media, Met director, Dehradun, Vikram Singh said that light to moderate rain/thunder showers were reported from many places across Uttarakhand over the past 24 hours. Lowest minimum temperature -0.7°C was recorded from Mukteshwar in Nainital district.  Fog covered many areas in the plains, especially Udham Singh Nagar, Nainital and Haridwar districts. The same would continue for the next three days starting from Saturday.

 

He further added that 40 mm rainfall was reported in Haldwani while it was 30 mm in Pantnagar and 20 mm each in Gairsain and Barkot. 10 mm rainfall was reported each in Ranikhet, Dwarahat, Karnprayag, Chamoli, Champawat, Banbasa, Lansdowne, Srinagar, Pauri, Tehri, Devprayag, Mukteshwar, Ramnagar, Munsiyari, Gangolihat, Rudraprayag, Jakholi, Ukhimuth, Bhatwari, Dunda, Uttarkashi, Purola and Garur. Light rain/snow has been forecast at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Chamoli and Pithoragarh districts while dry climate would prevail in rest of Uttarakhand till January 30.
