Finance, Water Resources and Excise Minister Prakash Pant said in Dehradun on Monday that as many as 6,000 appointments would be made in various government departments during 2018-2019.
Addressing mediapersons, Pant said the government was committed to providing jobs to all. “If a vacancy exists in a particular department, the eligible will be given jobs. In the new financial year, which has just commenced, we intend to provide 6,000 jobs in government departments,” he said.
Pant’s statement comes in the wake of a ban imposed by the BJP government last year. “We appointed nearly 3,000 individuals last year and we have fixed a target of making at least one lakh youth skilled in three years,” he said.
The minister said his department had prepared an elaborate plan to tackle water scarcity in summer months.
Pant said that the government’s revenue was set to increase due to the online distribution of liquor vends about to begin from April 26. “There is no room for corruption and favouritism through the online system,” he said, adding that steps were being taken to increase non-tax revenue to improve the financial health of the state.
