IIM Ahmedabad students were briefed by UK Gov

A group of students from Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmadabad, who are on a study tour in Uttarakhand, made a courtesy call on the Governor Dr K K Paul at Raj Bhawan on Saturday. Dr Paul spoke to them on various subjects and stressed on the need for skill development for getting employment. In the context of Uttarakhand, he said that employment opportunities should be generated in the hill areas to check migration from there. For this, skill development programmes based on local requirements and resources must be designed.

He said that at present, skill development programmes are being run in Dehradun, Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar districts. They need to be extended to the hill areas, focusing on animal husbandry, medicinal plants, aromatic plants and food processing.

The Governor said that the students should make constant efforts to innovate. They should cultivate the reading habit too, he said.The students shared their experiences with the Governor. They said that career counseling and network connectivity are what  the students in the hill areas need the most
