In a bid to address the declining Child Sex Ratio (CSR) and promote the education and empowerment of the girl child Union government had launched Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Scheme in 2015.
In Uttarakhand, the Nainital district has effectively implemented the BBBP scheme through initiatives such as sensitization workshops and the identification of unsafe places for women and girls. These efforts have yielded positive results in addressing gender-related issues.
Recognizing the success of the Nainital model, the Chief Secretary of Uttarakhand has directed all District Magistrates to replicate these initiatives in their respective districts. This directive emphasizes the importance of conducting sensitization workshops with girls and identifying unsafe places, aiming to create a safer and more empowering environment for women and girls across the state.
The implementation of the BBBP scheme has led to increased community awareness and involvement in combating gender discrimination and promoting girl child education. By adopting the Nainital model statewide, Uttarakhand demonstrates its commitment to strengthening the safety and education of its female population.
