The doors of the world-famous Shri Badrinath Dham will close for the winter season on Sunday, 17 November 2024, at 9:07 pm, according to an official announcement. The closing date was ceremonially decided today on the occasion of Vijay Dashami / Dussehra, following the traditional Panchang calculations conducted at the temple premises.
Ajendra Ajay, President of the Shri Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC), shared that the pilgrimage season has seen remarkable numbers this year. As of now, more than 11 lakh pilgrims have visited Shri Badrinath Dham, and over 13.5 lakh devotees have made their way to Shri Kedarnath Dham for darshan.
In total, 24.5 lakh pilgrims have visited both Shri Badrinath and Shri Kedarnath this year, with the entire Chardham Yatra witnessing an impressive turnout of 38 lakh pilgrims. These numbers underscore the enduring spiritual significance of the region and its global appeal.
The Chardham Yatra, which includes the holy sites of Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri, attracts millions of devotees each year seeking blessings and spiritual fulfillment. As the winter approaches, the doors of these sacred shrines are ceremonially closed, marking the end of the pilgrimage season until the next year.
The grand event of the closing ceremony will see devotees and temple officials participate in traditional rituals, bidding farewell to the temple deities for the winter months.
