Former Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari Clarifications on Rs 15 Crore Donation Allegation

Former Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari has responded to allegations of receiving a donation of Rs 15 crores in the name of a school, stating, “During my tenure as Governor of Maharashtra, I always kept my doors open for the common people… I have a strong inclination towards social work.” Koshyari explained that Anant Ambani, the younger son of Mukesh Ambani, approached him and they had a discussion. He mentioned the Akhil Bharatiya Sansthan- Vidya Bharti, which operates over 20,000 schools across India.

Former Maharashtra Governor and Uttarakhand Chief Minister Bhagat Singh Koshyari alias Bhagatda highlighted the Parwati Prema Jagati Saraswati Vihar in Nainital, a reputed residential school running for 40 years, as an example. He stated, “In response to public demand, we are opening more schools.” Koshyari then mentioned that he suggested to Anant Ambani to provide funding for the school, which would benefit rural areas as well. As a result, Anant Ambani provided a donation of Rs 15 crores for the cause.
