In a bid to protect women from eve teasing especially in public transport, plain clothes police would be deployed in the State capital. In addition to this, City Patrol Unit have been asked to conduct random checking of public transport on regular interval to take feedback from women travelling in public transport. This was disclosed by Additional Director General of Police (law and order) Ashok Kumar while presiding over a meeting with police officers at police headquarters.
ADGP has categorically asked them to take preventive measures to protect women from eve teasing. You convene a meeting with city bus and Vikram drivers regarding the same.
Efforts should be taken to ensure eight seats are kept reserved for women and separate entry and exit points are maintained in city buses. The mobile phone numbers of city police control room, women help line, CO traffic, SP Traffic and SSP should be displayed at four places in Vikrams and city buses so that women can approach them in case of emergency.
Deputy inspector general (DIG) of police and Traffic directorate in-charge director Kewal Khurana, Dehradun SSP Nivedita Kukreti, SP Traffic DS Gunjyal and others were present in the meeting.
