The mercury surged up to over 35 degree Celsius, about three degree above the normal, in Dehradun with the weather officials predicting a further rise in the maximum temperature in the city on Thursday. However, there is a possibility of light rain lashing some parts of the state, particularly the higher reaches in districts like Uttarkashi, Chamoli and Pithoragarh on April 14. The Met officials say that in case it rains it would at least arrest the rise in the mercury for the following few days. However, there is no possibility of rain occurring in the plains for the coming few days. Meanwhile, the highest maximum temperature 35.4 °C was recorded at Roorkee while the lowest minimum temperature 6.6 °C was recorded at Matela.

The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 36 ºC and 16 ºC respectively in Dehradun on Thursday.
