While the Congress-led Punjab and Karnataka coalition government was thinking of reducing the VAT on petrol and diesel the BJP government of Rajasthan led by Vasundhara Raje, standing at the cusp of assembly elections, decided to reduce VAT on petrol and diesel. This decision of the government will provide relief in the price of oil up to 2 to 2.50 rupees.
On the other hand, it is being reported from the Government of Maharashtra that Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis is also considering reducing VAT on petrol and diesel in the state.
The Congress party has called for a bandh con September 10 to oppose the central government led by PM Modi on the rising prices of petrol and diesel, which has been supported by all opposition parties.
Himachal Pradesh’s in-charge of All India Congress Committee (AICC) Rajni Patil has informed that in Punjab and Karnataka, petrol and diesel can be cheap soon. In response to a question, Patil said that Chief Ministers of Congress ruled Punjab and Karnataka have already been asked to reduce the VAT on petroleum products.
