DM’s in Uttarakhand to get Rs 5 crore each for disaster management during monsoon

The Uttarakhand government will grant Rs five crore each to the District Magistrates before rains to deal with any emergency during a disaster, an official said.

CM Trivendra Singh Rawat issued instructions to this effect while chairing a meeting of the state disaster management authority here. Rawat said local people should be trained to deal with disasters, and relief and safety equipment should be made available at the local level.

He also called for strengthening of the incident response system (IRS) and early warning system to minimise losses.
