Twenty IPS/PPS officers including 8 SSPs/SPs (districts police head) has been transferred by Uttarakhand government on Friday. The reshuffle includes the transfer of three Senior Superintendents of Police posted in Dehradun, Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar. The decision was taken by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami led Uttarakhand government after second consecutive murders in Dehradun in less than 48 hours.
According to the transfer orders, Dehradun SSP Ajay Singh has been shifted as SSP of the Special Task Force (STF). He has been replaced by Haridwar SSP Pramendra Dobal. In Haridwar, Pramendra Dobal’s place has been taken by Navneet Kumar, who was earlier posted with the STF in Dehradun.
In Udham Singh Nagar, SSP Manikant Mishra has been transferred as SP, Local Intelligence Unit (LIU). He has been replaced by Ajay Kumar Kumbhar, who was serving as SP, Champawat.
The reshuffle comes in the backdrop of recent criminal incidents in the state, after which Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has taken a serious view of the law and order situation. The Chief Minister has repeatedly issued strict instructions during law and order review meetings, making it clear that the government follows a zero-tolerance policy towards crime.
Officials said that the latest transfers within the police department are part of this broader strategy to make the system more proactive, accountable and effective. The Chief Minister has emphasized strengthening the informer network, creating a strong fear of the law among criminals, and enhancing public trust in the police.
He has also instructed that citizens should be able to approach the police without fear and receive prompt justice. The state government has reiterated that its objective is to further strengthen the law and order situation in Uttarakhand and ensure that there is no space for criminal activities in the state.
