Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to visit Haridwar on January 21, where he will take part in a special programme of the Gayatri Parivar marking the centenary celebrations of revered Mata Bhagwati Devi Sharma. The event is being organised to pay tribute to Mataji’s ascetic life, selfless service and unwavering devotion, which continue to inspire generations across the country. Although officially it has not been confirmed so far.
Earlier, on Sunday, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, along with Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, visited Haridwar and participated in the centenary-related programmes. Describing the occasion as a heartfelt expression of the nation’s gratitude, Chief Minister Dhami said that Mata Bhagwati Devi Sharma’s life was a shining example of sacrifice, dedication and deep spiritual practice. He said her ideals guided countless people and provided them a new direction rooted in values, discipline and service to society.
Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said that the Gayatri Parivar cannot be confined within the boundaries of a single organisation. He described it as a powerful current of awakened consciousness that inspires individuals to work for social upliftment and, ultimately, for nation-building.
The ongoing programme in Haridwar is witnessing the participation of a large number of followers, spiritual leaders and dignitaries, who are paying homage to Mata Bhagwati Devi Sharma, reflecting her enduring contribution to spiritual and social reform.
