EC appoints 167 Additional AEROs for SIR in Uttarakhand

The Election Commission has appointed 167 additional Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) in Uttarakhand for the upcoming Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. These appointments have been made across all 70 Assembly constituencies of the state.

With the issuance of this notification, the total number of AEROs engaged in the SIR process in Uttarakhand has risen to 435. At present, there are 70 Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) posted at the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) level and 268 AEROs at the Tehsildar level. The newly appointed officers have been deployed exclusively to strengthen the implementation of the forthcoming SIR exercise.

Additional Chief Electoral Officer Dr. Vijay Kumar Jogdande said that the appointments have been made to ensure the smooth and effective conduct of the revision process. The newly appointed AEROs include Block Development Officers, Executive Officers, Assistant Municipal Commissioners, Consolidation Officers and other eligible officials.

Dr. Jogdande further informed that Booth Level Officers (BLOs) have been directed to actively engage with voters under the “BLO Outreach Campaign.” He said that EROs and AEROs will regularly monitor the outreach activities to ensure better coordination, communication and verification at the grassroots level.

The additional AEROs have been deployed across all 13 districts of Uttarakhand. These include 11 in Uttarkashi, 20 in Chamoli, 8 in Rudraprayag, 12 in Tehri Garhwal, 13 in Dehradun, 19 in Haridwar, 20 in Pauri Garhwal, 14 in Pithoragarh, 3 in Bageshwar, 12 in Almora, 6 in Champawat, 11 in Nainital and 18 in Udham Singh Nagar.

Election officials said the enhanced administrative strength will help ensure accuracy, transparency and timely completion of the Special Summary Revision across the state.
