Dehradun Municipal Corporation’s 27th Foundation Day, CM unveils projects worth RS 46 crore

The Dehradun Municipal Corporation has celebrated its 27th Foundation Day here in Dehradun on Tuesday. On this occasion Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has laid the foundation stone and inaugurated development projects worth around ₹46 crore.

In his address Chief Minister said that in the past 27 years, the Municipal Corporation has played a vital role in shaping Dehradun into a clean, safe, and well-organized city. He said the day marks not only a celebration of past achievements but also a renewed commitment to future development as per emerging urban challenges.

CM Dhami  reiterated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is witnessing rapid urban transformation. He said flagship schemes like AMRUT, Smart City Mission, and Swachh Bharat Mission have significantly improved water supply, sewerage systems, green spaces, and waste management across cities.

He informed that the state government is working on development projects worth over ₹1,400 crore to  establish Dehradun as a modern city. A mechanized waste transfer station and an Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) have been set up for real-time monitoring of sanitation services. Additionally, 35 new parks have been developed to enhance green spaces.

CM Dhami also shared that the city’s largest yoga-themed park is under construction in Kedarpuram, while more than 50,000 sq meters of green area is being created through memorial parks dedicated to martyrs. The ‘Renew Rispana’ campaign is underway to rejuvenate the city’s rivers.

Focusing on environmental protection, the Chief Minister said 30 electric buses are currently operational and 11 EV charging stations have been set up. Due to sustained efforts, Dehradun secured 19th place in the Clean Air Survey under the National Clean Air Program and improved its national cleanliness ranking to 62nd position this year.

He added that the government is developing underground parking facilities at multiple locations and planning elevated roads over the Rispana and Bindal rivers to reduce traffic congestion.

During the event, CM Dhami also honored Municipal Corporation personnel for their exceptional service.

On this occasion Dehradun Mayor Saurabh Thapliyal said that continuous efforts are being made to develop Dehradun as a modern and eco-friendly city. Cabinet Minister Subodh Uniyal, MLAs Khajan Das, Vinod Chamoli, Umesh Sharma Kau, Municipal Commissioner Namami Bansal, officials, and councilors were present there.
