The Shri Kedarnath Dham Yatra proceeded smoothly on Monday as favorable weather conditions allowed uninterrupted pilgrim movement along the route. Local authorities and working agencies undertook swift clearing operations late Sunday evening, removing debris and stones from key points along the pedestrian path. As a result, the pilgrimage route was reopened and made safe for devotees early this morning.
Pilgrims arriving in large numbers are being directed through a well-managed traffic and parking system. Vehicles are being parked at designated sites in Sitapur and Sonprayag, from where shuttle services are transporting yatris to Gaurikund. From there, devotees are proceeding to Kedarnath by foot or through traditional means such as horse-mules, dandis, and kandis.
However, even as the yatra gains momentum, weather concerns remain. The Uttarakhand Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert due to the possibility of moderate to heavy rainfall today and in the coming days. Authorities have warned that sudden rain may trigger landslides or cause rocks and debris to fall onto the walking path from surrounding slopes.
In light of these conditions, the Rudraprayag district administration has issued a fresh advisory urging devotees to plan their yatra according to official weather updates. “Pilgrims are requested to check the forecast before beginning their journey and to strictly follow the instructions of local authorities and security personnel during the pilgrimage,” the advisory stated.
District officials reiterated that all efforts are being made to ensure safety and smooth conduct of the yatra. Teams from police, SDRF, and disaster management are on standby to respond to any emergency situations.
With safety protocols in place and favorable weather currently prevailing, the yatra continues to attract thousands of devotees each day.
