In view of upcoming International Yoga Day 2025, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in a yoga session held at the Chief Minister’s residence on Thursday morning. Officers and employees of the Chief Minister’s Office also joined the practice, reinforcing the government’s commitment to promoting a healthy lifestyle through yoga.
In his address Chief Minister Dhami emphasized that yoga is not merely a physical exercise, but a profound practice that leads to inner peace and self-realization. He said, “Yoga helps calm the mind and brings balance to our lives. It is deeply rooted in our Indian ethos and is a cornerstone of Sanatan culture.”
The Chief Minister highlighted how India has introduced the world to yoga, a practice that has now become an essential part of life for millions across the globe. He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for taking yoga to the international stage, recalling that in 2014, PM Modi’s proposal at the United Nations General Assembly was supported by 177 countries, leading to the declaration of June 21 as International Yoga Day.
Reiterating Uttarakhand’s identity as the land of yoga and sages, CM Dhami stated that the state government is taking active steps to connect people with yoga at the grassroots level. “Yoga is not only a spiritual tool but also a source of employment. We have launched a new Yoga Policy to establish Uttarakhand as a global capital of yoga and wellness,” he said.
The Chief Minister urged citizens to incorporate yoga into their daily routines and make it a lifelong practice for mental, physical, and spiritual well-being.
