Dhami directed the Forest Department to plant at least 1,000 fruit-bearing trees in every forest division this year to ensure food availability for wild animals. He also urged citizens to celebrate personal milestones like birthdays and anniversaries by planting trees.
Highlighting the state’s ecological richness, CM Dhami said Uttarakhand’s forests, rivers, and glaciers form its identity. He praised the Prime Minister’s efforts in renewable energy, citing initiatives like the Solar Mission, Electric Mobility, and Namami Gange. He noted that over 6,500 water sources have been rejuvenated, collecting 3.12 million cubic meters of rainwater in the past year.
The Spring and River Rejuvenation Authority (SARA) has been formed for conserving traditional water sources. Dustbins have been made mandatory in vehicles during pilgrimage and tourism seasons.
Forest Minister Subodh Uniyal emphasized public participation and efforts to reduce plastic usage. Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan highlighted the importance of balancing development with conservation through concepts like Gross Environment Product.
