In a bid to bring transparency and uniformity to the recruitment process for police and other uniformed services, the Uttarakhand Cabinet today approved the Uttarakhand Uniformed Constable Direct Recruitment Selection Process Rules, 2025 and the Uttarakhand Uniformed Sub Inspector Direct Recruitment Selection Process Rules, 2025. The decision was taken during a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.
The move is designed to streamline and standardize the selection process for direct recruitment to uniformed posts such as constables and sub-inspectors in the state. The approval comes after extensive consultation with concerned departments and selection commissions to ensure the rules are both practical and inclusive.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the new rules will not only ensure a more transparent and efficient recruitment process, but also create a level playing field for candidates across the state. By making the process uniform, the state aims to eliminate inconsistencies that previously existed in different recruitment bodies and departmental practices.
The Cabinet emphasized that these rules will promote the judicious use of state resources, enhance efficiency in recruitment, and ensure that aspirants appearing for competitive examinations are provided with fair and standardized conditions.
The new framework will also contribute to better coordination among recruitment agencies and departments, reduce legal disputes, and support merit-based selection.
This reform is seen as a part of CM Dhami’s broader vision to strengthen law enforcement institutions in Uttarakhand and build a robust, transparent, and merit-oriented recruitment system. The state government is expected to issue formal notifications shortly and direct the relevant agencies to begin implementation under the new rules.
